Different Sites for Different Purposes

Each site has its own needs and goals. The design of the site should reflect those unique requirements. The sites described here will show you some of the ways we have designed sites to suit those needs.

Lodging and Restaurants

The internet is an important tool for the tourist industry since many people will turn first to the internet to find lodging when they make travel plans.

The owners of Log Spirit have two goals for their website. First, they want potential guests to find their web site when they they use search engines like Google and Yahoo. Second, they want guests to see the the unique and beautiful lodge. The website has many pictures of the lodge and grounds as well as useful information about North Idaho.

Information Site

Organizations like home owners associations, government bodies, cultural or recreational groups may have information that they wish to make available to members and other interested parties.

Spirit Lake East is a private community with over 200 owners and residents. The website is one method of communication with the owners and a major goal is to build a community spirit. Since it is information and text heavy, the design elements are reduced to a minimum to leave space for the text. The simple design also makes it easy to maintain and enhance the site.

Artist

Artisans and Fine Artists need a way to communicate with collectors: display art work, sell artwork or related products and describe the artist's background and interests.

Singing Colors Studio is an informational site for the artist. Like many others, the artist has opted for a simpler site, recognizing that collectors usually do not buy artwork without seeing the actual piece. Instead, the artist uses the site to show the work and tell the collectors more about the her background and interests.

Whether the goal is earning a living or helping others, small organizations need to tell the world what they do and how they do it. The website needs to balance the need for a distinctive and memorable style with the need to communicate clearly.

Living with Gusto is a non-profit dedicated to providing medical care to older cats and other cats who may be less-adoptable because of injuries or illness. Inspired by a very special cat, the organization raises money from donations and sale of products. The goal of the site is to pursuade others of the importance of the organization's work through stories and pictures. In addition, the site provides a portal for information about feline health and related topics. The site also includes links to PayPal for donations and to a site where the organization's products are sold.
